What's New

March

The farm is a hype of activity this March. We have plenty of orders still going out and our farm team have been busy preparing next season's crop with the fertiliser spreaders out in force. March also sees the beginning of the turf season for our flat racing customers, so surely Spring can't be too far away!

Fertiliser Spreading

We have been busy in the fields towards the end of March getting the fertiliser on the grass. Working with our Agronomist, each field is individually analysed to ensure only the required amount is used and is then applied at the most effective rate. Adding fertiliser as part of our crop care plan improves soil health and provides grass with essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. These nutrients are required to boost growth and enhance the overall health of the grass, helping it to resist diseases and adverse weather conditions such as drought. You can see a short video of our team at work in the fields this March on our Facebook page here.

Return of the Turf Season

All of us here at Baillie Haylage are excited to see the beginning of the turf season for Flat Racing return. It signals the beginning of Spring (just a nudge to the windy/cold weather to move on now) and some fantastic meetings coming up. We wish all our trainers luck for the season ahead.

Laminitis Awareness
Baillie Haylage Meadow

While many of us are thrilled to see the early signs of Spring, for owners of laminitic horses and ponies it can be an anxious time. The main rule to follow when feeding laminitics is to avoid high sugar content in hard feeds and forage. Baillie Haylage High FibreTraditional Parkland Meadow, or Meadow Grass are all 4-7% sugar and suitable for laminitics. We analyse and batch code all of our haylage meaning it is all fully traceable, from field to your horse's mouth! This means you can feed your laminitic horse or pony with confidence. If you wish to discuss your individual horse or pony's requirements please don't hesitate to give us a call on 01472 398 696 or email us at sales@bailliehaylage.co.uk.
