December update from Baillie Haylage

A month that never seems long enough to fit everything in! December was an extremely busy month for our team, with shops and customers alike all stocking up ahead of the festive period. Fuelled on mince pies, chocolate and shortbread, the team all dug in and together we made sure all delivery requests were completed, then we all enjoyed a well-earnt rest between Christmas and New Year.

Dynamic Drivers

We must make a special mention to our incredible lorry drivers. Following the busy delivery schedule during December, more recently they have had to battle through the relentless rain and snow that hit the length of the UK. They've dealt with closed roads, icy conditions, rescheduled deliveries and even a breakdown (they never come at a 'good' time do they). Despite this they’re out there getting the job done, keeping customers and their horses happy no matter what. Thank you and keep on rolling!

Arena UK

As we enter into 2025, many of us beginning to plan our goals for the year ahead. Arena UK recently released their full calendar of events, alongside their high profile events they also host many amateur events so be sure to head over to their website here and have a look. Arena UK is one of the largest equine showgrounds in the UK, conveniently located in the heart of England. It is a top choice for equestrian events, hosting multiple championships and events for British Showjumping, British Dressage, British Riding Clubs, and Showing, among many others, providing a stage for equestrians of all levels. Baillie Haylage are delighted to have a partnership with Arena UK as a trusted supplier of high-quality forage.

Feeding a Veteran

Having given us many years of fun, it is important to give optimum care to our veterans. Our Equine Nutrition expert at Bishop Burton College reminds us of the key aspects in feeding veterans: dental health, digestibility and palatability in our blog here. Our Meadow Grass is particularly soft, leafy and extremely palatable. It's darker in colour since it’s cut later in the year, but it's low energy content makes it perfect for older horses or those at rest.
