We are a reliable and well-established family run business which specialises in producing top quality haylage for the equestrian industry, grown on our Lincolnshire farms since 1996

The Baillie family are farmers who have been involved in various equestrian activities at national and international levels, for four generations. Baillie Haylage, owned and run by Robert and Nicola Baillie, benefits from the family’s extensive knowledge of agriculture and horses, in addition to their experience within the equestrian sector.

Over the years, Robert and Nicola have reinvested and developed to remain at the forefront of the industry, growing Baillie Haylage to be one of the largest haylage producers in the UK. Modern machinery and technology complement the use of traditional methods and ensures the quality of the 100% grass, dust free haylage, without the need for preservatives or additives. All of our grass is supervised in its growing stage by a qualified agronomist, it is then professionally harvested, packaged and delivered to ensure that every bale is a quality guaranteed product.

Just like to say thanks for producing what can only be described by all my sheep and horses as the most delicious stuff since grass was invented. My ewes/Lambs and Rams are all treated to a large amount on a daily basis especially since lambing and my horses also get it mixed in with their hay, and if they could all speak they'd say far far far nicer than other big brand, so thanks from one happy animal owner and 22 haylage munching animals.

Just to say the driver this morning is a credit to the company. Super on the forklift, navigated round our straw bales with mm to spare and stacked the haylage perfectly. Kindly turned the forklift off and waited patiently a couple of minutes for a vetting to finish on the concrete by the hay barn. Always grateful when someone turns up who is really capable and genuinely nice too.

I have used Baillie haylage for many years, specifically the High Fibre or Meadow Grass handy bales. We opt for a medium to low energy haylage as my 4* eventer is very highly strung, an extremely fussy eater and can struggle with the dust element of hay. The quality is always fantastic and never changeable from the first bale to the last. Kellypsa has never looked as well and held her weight as well as when she does on the High Fibre handy bales. As the energy level of the haylage never fluctuates, it also makes it much easier to carefully monitor energy levels through hard feed where required.

Marvellous Product!

We have three horses that we have had from youngsters and are now approaching their twenties. Now, finally, to everyone's relief, the temperature warms, the rain slows and the sun shines (a bit) and I would like to thank your team for Baillie Haylage High Fibre. I have used this haylage for my three hairy cobs, Billy, Ben and Connie, throughout the Winter. Billy has developed an unfortunate allergy to hay and pollen and he becomes quite ill if he eats a large amount of hay. Ben, on the other hand, will eat ANYTHING but puts on weight eating NOTHING. I searched for a product to suit them all, as they are all together, mostly out 24/7 and discovered Baillie Haylage High Fibre. This obviously suits Billy but also does not pile on the pounds for Ben. All three horses have done so well on this haylage and look great and are very happy. The haylage is consistently of excellent quality and it suits my ponies.

As such, we supply a huge cross section of the equestrian industry from professionals, including racehorse trainers, eventers, showjumpers, studs and breeding operations, to amateurs and horse sanctuaries.

Baillie Haylage delivers medium and large bales direct to customers on their own lorries which are equipped with onboard forklifts, whilst handy bales are available to purchase from the ever-growing number of stockists based around the country. Baillie Haylage offers a year-round supply and delivery nationwide.

That’s not a Lincolnshire accent you say? Originally hailing from Scotland, Robert and his wife Nicola started Baillie Haylage together in 1996. Unlikely to say no to a coffee and a biscuit (or a wee dram!).

Known across Lincolnshire for her excellent selection of scarves and top-class quiche making skills, Nicola keeps us all organised and running as we should be. Always on the phone to our customers and front of house at our away shows!

Elfie

Sales & Marketing

Joining the team in 2022 Elfie has hit the ground running, taking in all things Baillie Haylage; from logistics to feeding advice, and all things in between. Riding from a young age, Elfie understands the needs of owners and their horses.

Katy

Office & Sales

It took Katy no time at all pick up the reins since she started in 2024. Her hands on experience from working on competition yards to equestrian offices means she is the perfect addition to the Baillie Haylage team and ready to answer any questions you may have!

A Baillie Haylage original, Neil’s been with us from the start! Growing up within the farming industry and with ponies (Neil rode at Wembley as a junior), Neil’s knowledge of haylage is second to none. Always here, there and everywhere with his work, Neil loves a weekend away in his caravan!

Since joining the team in 2019 Steve has become a familiar face to our customers, always out and about delivering up and down the country in his lorry! When he’s not at work Steve loves heading out on a fishing trip.

Whilst at work, Andrei can usually be found in his JCB teleporter palletising Baillie Haylage orders ready for despatch. Master of the bale stack, Andrei can pluck out any batch code at the drop of a hat!

Farm machinery breakdown? Eric’s your man. Spending all his working life in the farming industry, Eric supports Baillie Haylage on a part-time basis in his retirement. When he’s not at work Eric enjoys refurbishing vintage tractors.

John supports Baillie Haylage on a part time basis, always with a smile on his face. If he’s not at work, John will either be on his next holiday or planning it!

Mindaugas is king of our bagging machine with the keenest eye for detail - nothing gets past him! He does a fantastic job of getting orders out our doors. At harvest time, you'll either find him driving the wrapper or the drone!
